On Saturday, the music world lost one if its biggest talents, Whitney Houston. The Award-Winning Singer was found dead in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills hotel room on Saturday, where she was staying to attend Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Gala. Though foul play isn't suspected, we won't know the cause of death until lab tests are completed, which could take at least six weeks.
Houston's career spanned thirty years and was filled with both professional success and personal failure. She won 30 Billboard Awards, 22 American Music Awards, and 6 Grammy's and also successfully broke into movies. On the other hand, Houston was had a fourteen year marriage to singer Bobby Brown, which was characterized by drug abuse and domestic violence. Then, in 2002 she confessed to using marijuana, alcohol, cocaine, and prescription drugs. It's so sad when such a huge talent falls prey to drugs and come undone.
Sunday's Grammy Awards honored the late Houston and Jennifer Hudson took the stage to sing "I Will Always Love You." This is one of my all-time favorite songs, and I'll always be amazed at Houston's incredible vocal range. Click below to watch Hudson's cover of the song:
Houston's last performance, which happened to be the night before her death, was also caught on tape. She belted out "Yes, Jesus Loves Me" and the Kelly Price & Friends Pre-Grammy concert.
With The Big Game kicking off tomorrow, it seems like half-time performer Madonna is everywhere. Madonna's been around for a long time and is considered a music legend... but I don't know how I feel about her new song "Give Me All Your Luvin." It does feature two of my faves, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A... but I don't know, something about it sounds like all of Madonna's other songs. Check it out below and let me know what you think!
Okay, so mark your calendars because the 46th Big Game Day is less than two weeks away! Yesterday's game pitted the Patriots against the Ravens and the Giants versus the 49ers. The Patriots and Giants both had wins and will consequently face off for the Big Game on Sunday, February 5th. Oddly enough this is the same match up as in the 2007 game, where the Giants scored a touchdown in the final minute to take down the previously undefeated Patriots.
Okay, enough about the actual football, let's get to the good stuff… the entertainment. In light of Steven Tyler's National Anthem last night, I feel like this is the PERFECT place to start. Steven Tyler AKA Aerosmith front man AKA "American Idol" judge AKA dude with the biggest mouth ever kicked off the Patriots/Ravens Championship game last night with a rather wobbly version of the National Anthem. Honestly, I didn't think it was awful, certainly not good, but not the worst I've heard. But then again, I played a lot of sports in high school so I've heard a whole variety… I guess it's the fact that he's a judge on a singing show makes me giggle… 'cuz I think he could have benefited from a few lessons himself. Check out the video below and let me know what you think!
So Steven Tyler may not have rocked his performance, but I have high hopes for the Big Game halftime show performer. You MAY have heard of her… Madonna =P. She's been working with Cirque du Soleil… so I can only imagine what's to come.
Personally, I'm indifferent when it comes to football. This really disappoints some of my friends, but I guess I've always just felt like I'd rather play the sport than watch it. I guess this doesn't apply to football, 'cuz who would want a 300 pound guy running at you…but whatever… So, while I'll probably sleeping through the football part and setting my alarm for the halftime show, I'm thinking a lot of you will actually be watching the sport. If so, who are you rooting for and what are your plans for the Big Game? And hey, I'm always open to a good debate, so if you can convince me why I should tune in, I may just skip my nap that day.
The term "Viral Video" seems to be popping up all over the place, and I can't say I'm too upset… because when you hear the words "Viral Video" I guarantee you're about to start giggling. Hits1033.com has an entire section devoted to these videos, and I've spent many an hour crying (because that's what my laugh usually leads to) over them. All I can say is thank goodness for waterproof mascara.
In recognition of another year past, Hits 1033 has rounded up the 25 best viral videos of the year and put them all in one place. To watch them all, click here!
My favorite is probably #24, titled, "Anderson Cooper Gets the Giggles." I love when people totally lose it on air (hence why I'm a huge Jimmy Fallon fan) and thought this video was amazing. When you have a minute, or more like thirty, go through all the videos and let me know which one's your favorite!

Okay, so I know I just did a blog entry about Justin Bieber, in which I claimed I didn't have Bieber Fever… but this one was just too good to pass up. Let's take a little trip down memory lane… to 2007, when Justin Bieber was like what, three? Kidding…. In 2007, at the age of 13, Bieber sang Stevie Wonder's "Someday" for a contest final and completely rocked it. I'm assuming you all know who Stevie Wonder is… if not, get yourself to google this instant and find out why he's one of the most talented musicians out there. It's so crazy to see Justin back when his voice hadn't broken and I think he really nails the song. With auto-tune out there, ANYONE can sound good, but my boy Justin doesn't need it. He's already got the vocals in the bag. Look below to see the cutie back in the day!
Okay, back to the present. In the holiday spirit, Bieber and Wonder teamed up to sing "Someday" at the 16th Annual House Full of Toys benefit concert. Bieber looks so much older and it's amazing to see the difference in his voice. I still think he sounds fabulous and singing with a prodigy like Stevie Wonder always helps improve a performance. Check out their duet below and let me know what you think!
And, just so you know, I really don't have Bieber Fever…
There's something about YouTube videos with animals acting like people that make them sooo cute. I'm a huge animal person, evident in the way I legit stalk my cat, Kitton, who by the way is SO MUCH MORE than a cat... and coo like a baby to my dogs. It's disgusting, I know. And I kind of can't believe I do it... considering it annoys me when I see people doing it to their animals, but whatever, I've come to accept it about myself.
Okay, so Hits 1033 has an awesome feature called Viral Videos. It's basically a compilation of all the funniest new YouTube videos out there, and is updated frequently. I really enjoy coming in on a Monday morning, watching the newest videos, and giggling to start off my day. One that I've been sharing with pretty much anyone I've come into contact with is titled "Dog Treats Itself to Dunkers." Check it out below!
It is SO CUTE! Ahhhh!!! I'm really tempted to try and make my dogs do this. Doubtful it will work ,considering they only come when I have a slab of roast beef in my hand.
